What Jesus Said to Lazarus, He Also Says to Us  Click here Click title to view sermon John 11: 1–45
Summary:

When Jesus heard that his friend Lazarus had died, he did nothing for a few days. Not because he didn’t care but because he saw in this death an opportunity to show his followers more clearly who he is and was. The story is complex and raises lots of good questions.

The Sea on the Doorstep  Click here Click title to view sermon John 11: 1–45
Summary: Jesus’ lack of quick action upon learning of Lazarus’ serious illness is puzzling. But we don’t understand his worldview, which is much broader than ours. Looking at the difference in worldview between early explorers and the tribes they encountered illustrates this. But in the end, knowing that God understands what is beyond our comprehension enables us to live with trust and satisfaction.

God Uses Everything: Trust Him  Click here Click title to view sermon John 11: 1–45
Summary: The story of Lazarus’ resurrection not only demonstrates the power of God, but also the perfection of God’s timing. When we’re in the midst of a crisis, it’s often difficult to see God’s hand at work. But he is there, nonetheless, working behind the scenes, suffering along with us, even though he sees how he’s going to redeem the situation down the road.

Die and Let Live  Click here Click title to view sermon John 11: 17–27
Summary: Though we die, that is not the end. We don’t know the details of what’s on the other side of death, but we know that Jesus is there. He has descended into death ahead of us, and has arisen to let us know that we will be safe as we pass through death.
